It’s the 14th of February and it is the day where all lovers or those who have been eying for someone to share their love and pour their hearts out.
I never actually celebrate Valentine’s Day. The only time I received those so called Roses is when I was in Secondary school. *laugh..laugh* that’s what people call monkey love. Well the person who gave me the rose is actually not my BF but so called my *cough* “secret admirer”. *laugh..laugh*.
One of the most memorable Valentine’s Day is when I got a knock on our rented house way back in Shah Alam while I am still studying. My housemate went to see who it was and few second later she called me. As I open the door, I saw a bar of Chocolate put on the iron bar. As I was about to close the door for no one was there when suddenly:-
Man : Happy Valentine’s Day
Lady : (Blushing) O Hi. Ya Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.
Man : Here’s something for you. I know you love chocolate so much.
Lady : Oh thank you. You shouldn’t have.(blushing)
You see why I say it is the most memorable Valentine’s Day?.. He was not even my BF. I consider him as my brother (although I have a bit crush on him. Hehe) and I saw him few hours before at one of the shopping complex (He ask me out but I refuse saying I’m lazy to go out), looking at his wallet as if talking to himself “mana ada duit ni”. (I am hiding all the time coz I’m afraid that I will bump into him at the shopping complex).
Where is that guy now? He’s not my DH now, but he got married to one of my housemate!!!!!!!. LOL.
Ok enough of that. Let us get to know how Valentine’s Day begin…
During the mid 200's Emperor Claudius II of Rome banned marriages or engagements due to the difficulty of enlisting soldiers in the military. Valentine, a Christian priest, secretly married couples despite the emperor's decree. Eventually, Valentine was imprisoned and put to death on February 14, 270. As history unfolded and the Christian Church gained more power in Rome, the priests began to eliminate pagan festivals. Lupercalia, an ancient Roman festival celebrating fertility was replaced by honoring St. Valentine's Day.

A festival of love is a celebration in true Christian spirit as the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." It also says in 1 John 4:7 "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God."
Perhaps this is what St Valentine's Day is: a celebration of Christian love derived from ancient Pagan origins, which has over time become masked in modern commercialisation and a series of quite quaint customs.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY
